Tim Fletcher helps companies develop new initiatives through the use of Design Thinking methods. These methods include idea generation, visualization, user research and prototyping. He brings a user-centric viewpoint to discover unarticulated needs and wants. He has worked with startups to Fortune 500 companies. He also works as an expert witness in Design patent cases and teaches Design Thinking in several schools at Carnegie Mellon University.

Previously he was the Business Development Manager for Daedalus, where he practiced Design Thinking methods on small and large corporations. Before this he taught Industrial Design and Design Thinking at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His background in design and new product development spans both large and small corporations as well as consulting. Prior to teaching, Tim has worked in the consumer and commercial electronics, infant products and sporting goods industries. He has been working with manufactures and clients in Asia and Europe since 1989. He holds 14 design patents and 4 utility patents in the US and Europe.

Tim has been a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America since 1989. Currently he serves as IDSA's Government Liaison officer supporting the organization to make inroads into and create relationships between IDSA and the US Government. He has been in the appointed position of International Liaison Officer – Asia, building bridges between IDSA and industrial design in Asia. He has also been on the Board of Directors. Previously he has been elected to the positions of Chapter VP, Southern District VP and Carolina Chapter Chair.

He received his BED in Industrial Design from NC State University in 1989 and his Masters of Design (Advanced Strategies) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2008.
